Amazing Scenes from Around the World

AMAZING SCENES FROM AROUND THE WORLD – The world, as we know it, is a wondrous thing. Both Mother Nature and Mankind have produced some incredible wonders around the world that make us stand back and appreciate its sheer beauty and ingenuity, whether it’s a skyscraper in Dubai or a Desert that flowers once every few years to create a stunning carpet of colour.

In this article we’ll share 10 wonders that we’ve found floating around the web.

1. Maldives Airport

The Maldives are a group of islands right in the middle of the Indian Ocean and the only way to build an airport was to create an artificial island. This incredible feat of design and engineering is testament to the creativity of the Maldive people.

2. Gulf of Jiaozhou Bridge

When it comes to building bridges you would have to take your hat off to the Chinese.  In the province of Shandong is a bridge that crosses the Gulf of Jiaozhou and has a total lenght of over 36 km.  Considering the length this mighty structure, it also has 8 lanes and is the longest sea bridge in the world.

3. Glass Balcony Chicago

If you are not keen on heights then having a balcony on the 103rd floor of a Chicago building is certainly not going to make you happy.  While the views are stunning across Chicago the outside balcony, made entirely from glass will certainly make your head spin.

4. Montana Lake

This has to be Mother Nature at one of her best moments. Look carefully at the picture and you will see just how crystal clear the water is.  Now if you’re thinking that this is not an overly remarkable picture think again.  Look at the shadow on the bottom of the lake, it looks like the lake is only a few feet deep where the lady is relaxing but in fact it’s over 50 feet deep and that’s incredible to have a body of water that clear at that depth.

At over 50 feet deep, this lake in Montana is so clear it looks like the bottom is just a few feet away.

5. Flowering Desert

This Desert only flowers once every several years but when it does it’s carpeted with Phacelia (Scorpion Weed) giving the most spectacular display of mauve and pink across an otherwise barren landscape.

8. Multi-Coloured Rocks

This is a unique geological phenomenon known as Danxia landform. These phenomena can be observed in several places in China. This example is located in Zhangye, Province of Gansu. The color is the result of an accumulation for millions of years of red sandstone and other rocks.

9. Crescent Moon Tower

This stunning piece of architecture can be found in Dubai and is shaped as a Crescent Moon. This has to be one of Dubai’s most beautiful buildings and as the sun goes down it fits in so well with the night sky.

10. Day and Night

A monument that stands in Kaunas, Lithuania, appears like most other statutes until it is transformed by the night sky, casting a shadow on the wall of a man sowing seeds.  This really is an incredible piece of art with some clever use of it’s surroundings.

    Hi Graham,
10 Super picks!  Do I have a favorite?  I don’t think so, I like each one for different reasons, and each is spectacular in their own way.  #8 Multi-colored rocks are so cool-you’d almost think the photo had to be photoshopped.  #10-Day & Night is so perfectly staged for evening, was the lighting there first and they worked around it, or was the statue put in and then the lighting was added?
#7-Emerald lake, is so peaceful.  #4-Montana Lake is unbelievably clear!  I wouldn’t hesitate to swim there or worry about eating the fish.  #2-The Bridge is just crazy…picture something rising out of the mist to getcha!  Seems a little too long for my comfort as well.
#5-The flower field, makes me think of the Wizard of Oz…must really smell intoxicating.  And #3-Glass balcony, that is the old Sears Tower, isn’t it?  I just saw a special on how the balconies-(there are 2 ?)  are actually retractable so the window washer can properly clean the sides of the building.  No way I could go out there-I can’t even climb a ladder.
Each one is totally impressive; the Hand of G-d and the mind of man.  Have you been to any or all of these-which would you pick if you could?
Thanks for the scenic tour Graham, really enjoyed it…Dee

      Hi Dee
Glad you found the article entertaining.  As a man-made structure I think the Crescent Moon is just a stunning piece of architecture, however the most impressive images are those that mother-nature has created.

If memory serves me right I think you are correct that the Glass Balcony is the old Sears Tower – but you wouldn’t get me standing out there – I get dizzy standing on a chair. lol

I honestly can’t really pick a favorite here as it never ceases to amaze me what mother nature can produce and of course what man produces.

      Have a great day Dee.
