CONTEMPORARY LIVING ROOM DESIGNS – The word ‘contemporary’ is used an awful lot in modern interior design. Go back to the 70’s, 80’s and up until approximately 10 years ago the keyword for interior design was ‘Chic’. So what’s the difference between Chic and Contemporary? To be honest both terms are equal to each other, it’s simply that one term has replaced the other in order to give interior design the appearance that it has grown up.
Just remember, when it comes to interior design it is about you and what you want in order to make the living room a place you can truly relax in.
Timber & Glass – I personally like what the interior designers have achieved here. The mixture of soft light furnishings coupled with the glass walls and timber effect walls. The whole rooms is really bought to life with the careful use of the bright red cushions in order to add a statement to the interior design.
Medieval – The living room above has been given that medieval castle look with the strong walls and this strength is enhanced by the bold furniture and dark coloration to the room. The whole effect really works well as each element is tied to the other.
Translucent Lighting – I have mixed feelings regarding the interior design of this room. I keep looking hoping to find something definite about it, something that defines the room and yet I am not able to. Do I dislike it? No, but I personally would have added some nice Contemporary Art to the wall in order to give the room more character. As far as the contemporary minimalist look goes this room does work well and the colors certainly blend and the lighting under the wall shelving works extremely well.
Distinctive Greens – I honestly can’t say that green is one of my favorite colors but when a room is so well designed, such as the example above, then my whole perception of the color changes. I really like the way the interior designer has broken up the green with the use of a gray center wall and the black shiny floor tiles.
Curves and Art – The whole feel to this room is almost perfect. Carefully note the contemporary art on the wall – look closer and note the curves used to in the painting and now cast your eyes down to the curves of the furniture. Coincidence? I personally don’t think to, I think this a part of the very purposeful living room design that adds to the flow of the room.
Gold and Brown – This is certainly one of my favorite contemporary living room designs. It’s just so inviting with the soft glows from the lamp that casts its shadows across the room making the whole interior glow. Look how well the artwork sits within the design and the beautiful gold tiled wall. This, for me at least is pure perfection in blending colors to make the whole living room come alive with a comfortable soft, warm and inviting appeal.
Classic Black and White – Now the Black and White interior designs may not be to everyone’s liking but these base colors are extremely versatile and can be placed with any other colors you may desire. The interior designers here have certainly made a statement with the minimal design and use of contemporary modern furnishings.
I hope you have enjoy this journey through some wonderful contemporary living room designs and that they have inspired you with ideas for your living room.
