CREATIVE WOODWORKING BY WILLIAM HEISTAND – When it comes to creative woodworking William Heistand has to be one of life’s most talented wood carvers. Bill and I have exchanged a few emails and I have been privileged enough to be able to view his work and have the honor of writing about Bill’s work.
When it comes to creating anything the artist has to have a true love of what they are creating and when you look closely at Bill’s work you can clearly see that each and every piece is filled with the warmth and love of what he does.
What really inspires me here is the diversity of pieces that Bill produces, from stunning carved Cherry Media Chest, to a wonderfully warm fireplace surround. Without further ado, here is just a small selection of Bill’s work.

Beautifully carved media cabinet in walnut.
I have to say that the Walnut Cabinet above is one of my favorite pieces. I simply adore the warmth of the wood and the geometrical lines. For those of you who know me, you’ll know I favor the minimalist approach and I personally feel this piece of artwork furniture would work very well in a minimalist interior design.
William Heistand – Walnut Credenza with Custom Shaped Panel Doors
The Walnut Credenza intrigues me with its almost oriental style that is certainly enhanced by the furnishings that went into completing this piece. It’s such a wonderfully interesting piece of furniture that is finished to absolute perfection. I could see this being at home in almost any interior design style that you favor.
William Heistand – Fireplace Surround – Carved Cherry and Motawi
The fire surround above is beautifully carved from Cherry and Motawi and the natural feel to this piece is enhanced through the tree design carved on the fascia. I’ve never really been into fireplaces – that is until now. This single piece has totally changed my mind and the next time I remodel a room I will be surly tempted to include something as beautiful as this carved fireplace.

The Chain Style Baluster is just stunning. I love its clean and symmetrical lines and I have visions of this fitting wonderfully is a beautiful modern Barn Conversion.
