The Best Flooring for Your Home

THE BEST FLOORING FOR YOUR HOME – The type of flooring one chooses can make a considerable difference in not only the appearance of your home but finishing too. Good looking flooring matched with elegant modern rugs, can enhance the value of your home. Today, rugs come in a wide variety of designs and are quite affordable. Here are some of the best flooring types to select for your home.

Hardwood flooring

It’s one of the most popular types of flooring. This flooring presents an integration of durability and beauty that you will rarely have on your floor. Hardwood flooring comes in hickory, walnut, birch, pine, oak, cherry, beech, pecan, maple and more. This kind of flooring offers a long lasting and wear resistant surface that can be refinished if necessary.

Bamboo flooring

Being one of the latest types of flooring, bamboo flooring can offer a greener solution when compared to the conventional flooring materials. It is elegant, durable and comes in a wide variety of colours ranging from light tan to honey brown. It offers a strong and clean surface. Bamboo flooring shouldn’t be left wet. The manufactured bamboo floor is usually made available to consumers in planks with either horizontal or vertical grain orientation. In the vertical bamboo floors, component pieces are placed vertically on their smallest edge and press laminated side-to-side. This produces a lined uniform look on the finished floor plank surface. In the horizontal bamboo floors, slats are arranged horizontally, on their wide edge, and joined side-by-side with adjacent pieces by the use of a high-pressure laminate flooring system.

Ceramic tile

Ceramic tile can be used for countertops, floor tiles or indoors. Ceramic tiles with unglazed-finish offer the ideal option for outdoor flooring due to their capability to withstand the effects of water. Other types of finishes available include: textured, glazed, embossed, matte and high gloss. Ceramic tiles with porcelain colour through their body are the most suitable for hiding damages or scratches due to their unique composition.

Laminate flooring

Laminate flooring are not only one of the cheapest types of flooring available but also easy to maintain. It provides a strong and durable surface that could resist chipping, scratches and burns. It is a perfect solution for high-traffic locations, comes in a vast range of designs and colours, and resembles natural materials. Laminate has grown very popular perhaps due to its easier installation and maintenance than more conventional surfaces like hardwood flooring.

Marble flooring

Marble tile is one of the most versatile and durable tiles to use. It can be used for the hallway columns, walls and floors. These tiles are easier to clean and maintain. They are also easy to customize with stylish designs and textures that suit your tastes. Marble tiles come in various colours and can make a stylish foyer. In addition, it comes in a vast variety of colours and other variations and has been used as sculpture, building material and architecture for decades but its application is in flooring. These tiles are available in different sizes and are very easy to install.

    Hi Graham,
I love looking at flooring: all the styles, colors and choice of materials. I really don’t care for carpet but use runner rugs in front of my couches on the hardwood floor. I didn’t realize bamboo could be made into flooring, especially since I have seen towels advertised as being made from bamboo. Must be a versatile plant. Great information and suggestions for the next home project we tackle.
    Thanks for the ideas, Dee

      Hi Dee
I’ve seen Bamboo flooring and it’s quiet effective. Didn’t know they make towels out of it. Integrity has written some nice articles for us over the last new months and it’s all very informative :)

      Thanks Dee.
