GAIL MARKIEWICZ CERAMIC ARTIST - I have a real affinity with Ceramic Art. In my childhood my favorite pastime was to spend hours on the Potters Wheel and even if I do say so myself, I was pretty good at producing some very nice pieces from clay. I’ve always believed that if you truly love what you do then you will excel at it and as the years pass become more adept at what you can achieve.
Ceramic art, along with Porcelain Art, is such a wonderful addition to any interior design and with the vast array of ceramic art available you are bound to find something you truly love.
Before we start, I would like to ask you 3 questions:
1. Do you love ceramic art?
2. Do you love colorful art?
3. Do you love things to be out of the ordinary – that is completely unique?
If you have answered ‘Yes’ to the 3 questions above then let me tell you that what you are about to view will leave you breathless. There isn’t, in my opinion, anything that can describe Gail Markiewicz and her ceramic creation, in a single word. Her work certainly embodies all of the things I love about ceramic art and particularly contemporary ceramic art.
Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, allow me to introduce Gail Markiewicz, a truly magical and inspirational ceramic artist.
From the moment you set eyes on Gail’s work you can see a passion for ‘Patchwork‘ and infusing colors and textures throughout the piece, making it not only pleasing to the eye, but indeed a very tactile piece of art.
When I decided to write this article I purposefully set out to capture large images of Gail’s work. This allows you to view and fully appreciate the amount of detail that each piece of art contains.
The vase above has to be one of my favorites. The elements of the Oriental fits so well with pottery due to the Chinese ancient tradition of creating such wonderful pieces. Gail has certainly captured all the flavors of the Orient here and this is one piece I would be thrilled to own.
Gail creates ceramic vessels made of textured clay incorporated into a patchwork of designs. These beautiful ceramic forms appeal to more than just the eye, but your tactile senses as well.
One natural element I adore is ‘Mother of Pearl’. It is truly a magical wonder and the piece above reminds me so much of this, with the way the glazes have been expertly applied over the colors.
If you are anything like me, then you’ll simply love anything unusual and the piece of artwork above just has everything I could want. Vibrant colors, unusual shapes and a plethora of details, makes this such an interesting piece of art.
The strong visual shapes are detailed and defined making each one of Gail’s work a unique piece of art. The colorings are hand painted in a way that involves a multi-step process that highlights all the textures.

Gail’s work is shown and sold in galleries throughout New England and Florida and most of her clients return to view and buy new pieces. This is not surprising when you realize just how creative Gail is in producing such wonderful and unique pieces of art.
I am sure you will agree that Gail certainly has the flare for producing ceramic art that covers everything for those of us who love this medium so much.
A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University – Master Of Arts, Gail, after having tried sculptural forms of art, began to create beautiful, nonfunctional vessels and has continued this art form since 1985. Probably the biggest link from the beginning of her work until now has been her love for textures and pattern. Combined textured pieces of clay and juxtaposed them into interesting positions to form a patchwork design. The shape of the vessels are very striking. The colors highlight the surfaces creating a feeling of antiquity and futuristic dimension embodied in each vessel.

I write about the things I love and simply want to share in the hope that I inspire you with what I find. If you have enjoyed Gail’s work here, please share this article with your friends.
