HOW TO CHOOSE WINDOW BLINDS – When it comes to buying window blinds for your home you really do have a wide and varied choice, not just in the sizes and styles, but also the patterns, colors and materials they are made from, such as plastics or fabrics. Like any other part of interior design, choosing your blinds does require careful planning and thought.
Ask yourself a few questions:
Will the blinds work with your current furnishings?
Will the new blinds blend with the wall colors?
What type of blinds do you want, fabric or maybe vinyl?
What sort of budget do you have? Blinds will vary in price. It is a good idea to know exactly what your limit is and stick to it. If you do find the perfect blinds but they are a little over budget then try haggling with the retailer or wait until they appear in the sales.
When you seriously start to look at blinds you will quickly realize that the blinds can do a lot more than simply create privacy and there are a lot of styles to choose from, for example Venetian or Roman Blinds.
Think carefully about cleaning the blinds, some, such as ones made from plastic or vinyl are easier to clean as you can simply clean these while they are still hanging. On the other side of the coin are fabric blinds which will need removing and may require specialist cleaning such as taking them to the Dry Cleaners.
Tip: If you decided to go for Fabric Blinds then bare in mind that these have a tendency to attract Dust Mites and therefore if you, or any other family member, suffers from allergies then these are not really a good choice.
