HOW TO CLEAN UPVC WINDOWS AND DOORS - UPVC windows and doors are great but if you don’t clean them regularly they begin to look grimy and lose their shine and even discolor. Here’s an easy way to clean them and make them look like new.
Step 1
Start off by purchasing a bottle of UPVC Restorer. This can be found in most DIY Stores.
Step 2
Take a bucket and fill with hot water and add a quantity of sugar soap. Wear some protective gloves so you don’t scold your hands.
Step 3
Wash down the UPVC to remove any dirt, grease, grime and debris. Once you’ve done this run a finger along the surface. If it produces a squeaking sound you know it’s clean. If not, wash until all traces of grease are removed. You need to make sure that the surface is squeaky clean!
Step 4
Take your UPVC Restorer and pour a quantity onto a damp cloth and work this into the surface of the UPVC using a circular motion. This does take a fair amount of effort but stick with it. Work in one section at a time. Buff the UPVC Restorer off with a dry soft cloth.
Step 5
Generally UPVC Restorers are sensitive to direct sunlight and dries out extremely quickly. Try to avoid working in direct sunlight with the UPVC Restorer but if this is unavoidable then working in very small areas and buff off immediately. The easiest and most preferable method is to work on a day that is overcast and not when the weather is particularly hot.
Step 6
When cleaning UPVC DO NOT use any abrasive materials such as wire wool or brush. This will leave scratches that will be highly visible, especially when you have buffed it with the UPVC Restorer.
You should find that this will really change the appearance of your UPVC window surrounds and give them back their new look appearance.
