How to Install a Kitchen Sink

HOW TO INSTALL A KITCHEN SINK – Out with the old sink and in with the new! There are a few things you’ll need to consider when installing a new kitchen sink and this guide may take a little time. The guide provides you with practical advice on how to install a kitchen sink.

 Step 1

Open the box of your new sink. Inside you should find a template which is used to cut the right size hole in your work top.

 Step 2

Using masking tape to hold the template to the work top position it so that it is approximately 1.5″ to 2″ from the front of the work top.

 Step 3

The template will have instructions on where to drill the pilot holes so that you can cut the remaining section out using a jigsaw.

 Step 4

Once your pilot holes are made, remove the template and mark a clear straight line from one hole to the other, creating a rectangle shape.

 Step 5

You can now cut out the shape using a jigsaw.

 Step 6

Take your sink and fit all the attachment, taps, drain grill, etc.

 Step 7

With the sink turned upside down, apply a bead of silicone that will help provide a water tight joint.

 Step 8

Carefully turn the sink over and insert into the opening you cut.

 Step 9

Press down around the edges to let the silicone seal around the sink unit.

 Step 10

From the underneath of the sink locate the sink clamps. Attach these and tighten. This secures the sink in place firmly.

 Step 11

Clean off any excess silicone that is squeezed out.

 Step 12

Go back under the sink and attach the U bend to the sink and then attach the other end to the waste pipe.

 Step 13

Once your sink is firmly in place you can then set to the task of fitting your taps.
