How To Kill Ants Without Pesticides

HOW TO KILL ANTS WITHOUT PESTICIDES – Ants are an industrious insect and extremely well organized. However a large colony can become a real nuisance, especially if you have fire ants! If your garden or house has become infested with ants there are a number of pesticides on the market but this is not an eco-friendly solution. In this guide, we show you a number of ways in which to kill ants without using any type of pesticide.

 Step 1

Blocking the hole to the ants nest is one way to stop them from infesting your home and or garden. When you see a trail of ants, simply follow this until you locate the nest. Generally you’ll find a single entrance, where all the ants come and go. Try using silicone sealant to seal the hole entrance. This may not kill them, but it is likely they will relocate – probably in another part of your garden. This solution can have a lasting effect if all the holes are sealed which will then kill the ants.

 Step 2

Take a spray bottle and fill with warm soapy water and spray on the ants. This is a very fast way to kill ants and you will see them dying off almost immediately.

 Step 3

If ants are coming in from outside the house, then draw a thick chalk line across the door threshold… Ants do not like to cross a chalk line.

 Step 4

If you have an ants nest in your garden then boil a kettle of water and pour the boiling water directly and around the nest. This will kill all the ants within the nest.

Before you start your killing spree… Remember that ants, along with most other insects in your garden, do play their role.  Ants for instance eat Aphids and other pests, such as caterpillars, so think carefully whether you want to kill off your garden helpers.  If the ants are not infesting your home and are located in a part of your garden where they are not causing any problems then leave them be and simply admire their industrious ways.
