HOW TO PUT UP A HANGING BASKET BRACKET - Hanging baskets really do brighten up the outside of your home but to ensure they stay up you need to fit a hanging basket bracket to the wall correctly. In this guide we’ll show you how to fit one to a brick or masonry wall, with easy to follow steps.
Step 1
Hanging basket brackets can be purchased at any good DIY Store, Garden Centre or Online. You need to choose one that is strong and big enough to cater for the size of the hanging basket you have. It must be long enough so that the basket does not come into contact with the wall. Consider carefully the overall size and weight of your hanging basket before choosing the bracket.
Step 2
Take the bracket and place it in a position on the wall so that when it comes to watering the hanging basket it is NOT too far out of reach. It is much better if you can water it from the ground if possible. Other than that you will need a pair of step ladders.
Step 3
With the bracket in place mark the screw hole positions on the wall with a pencil or piece of chalk.
Step 4
Take your drill and attach a suitable sized masonry drill. Set the drill to ‘Hammer Action’ and drill the required number of holes that you marked.
Step 5
Place raw plugs in the holes and tap gently home with a hammer.
Step 6
Take the bracket, and with the screws provided, screw the bracket to the wall.
Step 7
Hold the basket in one hand and with the other place the chain onto the bracket and lower the basket gently and let the bracket take the weight.
