How to Replace a Shower Hose

HOW TO REPLACE A SHOWER HOSE – If your existing shower hose is leaking or looking a little worse for wear don’t worry. Shower hoses are extremely easy to fit as the fittings are universal. So no matter what type of shower unit or shower head you have, you can always fit a new hose if required. In this guide we’ll show you how to do the job which should take you no more that 5 minutes to fit.

 Step 1

Unscrew the hose nut from the shower unit.  These are generally easy to undo but if you are having problems, then use a wrench.  Simply hold the hose with one hand place the wrench on the nut and then turn counter-clockwise while keeping a firm grip on the shower hose.

 Step 2

Now unscrew the shower hose from the shower head.  Again, if you find the nut will not budge by hand follow Step 1 to loosen it.  You should now have removed the hold shower hose from the shower head and shower unit, which can now be discarded.

 Step 3

Take your new shower hose and fit the washer in the nut as directed on the packaging and attach this to the shower unit. DO NOT over tighten the nut as this can damage the washer or crack the nut.  Tighten the nut so that it is just hand tight for now.

 Step 4

Fit the other washer into the other end of the shower hose and fit this to the shower head. Again, DO NOT over tighten.

 Step 5

Now with the new shower hose in place turn on the water.  Check for any leaks at both the nut attached to the shower head and the nut attached from the shower until.  If either are leaking just take your wrench and gently turn the nut until it stops leaking.  If it will not stop, turn off the shower and unscrew the nut and check that the washer is properly seated.  Repeat and try again.
