How to Tile a Splashback

HOW TO TILE A SPLASHBACK – For those of you who don’t know what a ‘Splashback’ is, it is a Tiled Areas on the wall behind your cooker.  The Splashback is designed to help you to keep this area clean as tiles are much easier to clean compared to wallpaper or a painted wall.

On with the project… Here’s the video that will show you how to tile a splashback with very easy to follow instructions.

Like any other wall tiling job, tiling a splashback is about preparation and patience. Here we provide you with a great video by our friends at WoodiesDIY.  In this video you can learn how to…

  • Gather all the right tools for the job
  • Prepare the wall
  • Tile the wall
  • Grout the wall
  • And finally clean up the tilled wall area and add a few finishing touches.

When it comes to tiling a splashback the really important thing, as you will learn in the video below is to ensure that you work to a good level.  If you don’t, just like any other tiling job, you’ll end up looking back and seeing everything is off level, which will result in the whole job looking awful.

You can be extremely creative when it comes to creating a splashback for your kitchen.  I have over the years seen some incredible designs that really lift the whole appearance of the kitchen.  When it comes to tiles you really are spoiled for choice, from large tiles, to patterned or textured tiles, to mosaic tiles that are patterned, textured or even multi-colored.

I would caution you to use a tile that does fit in with the decor of your existing kitchen and think carefully if you are tiling a ‘Scene’ as these don’t always fit in.  The best thing is to take a trip to your local Tiling Shop and take a look at the vast array of tiles available to you.
