MODERN SOFA DESIGNS – I often wonder what goes through the minds of furniture designers when they put pen to paper. Looking at the way we living and with an ever increasing movement towards modern design I’m thinking that a designers should ask… Is it comfortable? Is it stylish? Is it social?
The first two questions are not rocket science. It would be fruitless to design and produce a sofa that nobody whats to sit and relax on and who is going to buy it if they don’t like the look of it. You can see what I’m getting at. I can guarantee you that each time you have purchased a new sofa you first thought process would have been the ‘Look’ of the sofa. It simply comes down to the fact that you will never buy a sofa, or any other item, that you do not like the look of. With that decision taken, then next important thing is ‘Comfort’. As you walk around a furniture showroom looking for your new sofa you are going to do a lot of bouncing around and trying out the styles you like by sitting on them.
OK, well that kind of wraps things up then. You’ve found a sofa you like and that is comfortable… time to get out the credit card. Hold on there… you’ve missed an important element in your decision process. What about the ‘Social’ element that the designer has worked so hard on? Social?, I hear you ask. Graham, have you not been taking your meds?
You think I’m nuts right? OK, well let’s just look at this another way. Where do you put a sofa? Living Room, Den, Recreation Room? Notice that the rooms that you generally put sofas in are Social Rooms, rooms where you, your family and your friends come together. If you look closely at modern sofa design you will quickly realize that many of them can be broken down into sections, so that they can be moved around. Other designs involve creating a circle where friends and family can gather around.
You see… I’m not really that nuts at all. So, now that you have picked the style and comfort levels, is the sofa ‘Social’? You can easily check this out by seeing if the furniture can be broken down into separate components or that it forms a circle where people can sit around.
I know what you are thinking… I just want it to face the TV… that’s fine, but what about the times when you are not watching TV, but rather engaging in conversation with friends? If you look closely at modern sofa designs you will find that most of the designers have taken all these elements into consideration.
Now on with the show. Here’s a few more Modern Sofas Designs I found that, for me at least, cover the ‘Sytle’ and ‘Social’ elements. As for the ‘Comfort’ element, that is impossible for me to determine from a picture.
As you can see, there are some truly wonderful Modern Sofa Designs available, and what I have displayed here is but a mere fraction of the designs that are available to you. I hope you have enjoy my ramblings and if you have any comments please leave these below.
