A step by step guide to build an arbour bench for your garden

A STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO BUILD AN ARBOUR BENCH FOR YOUR GARDEN – A garden is a private space where you can sit and enjoy the greenery of nature. An arbour can add style and beauty to your garden; instead of a fence you can use them as a beautiful gateway. Arbours with a bench can be used to sit on and to provide support to vines and other climbing plants. It is usually better to build these arbour garden benches by yourself.

Sides

Start with assembling the sides. Cut sides to an appropriate length and split into pairs for each side- left and right

Indicate and cut grooves using circular saw.

Measure the actual width of side lattice panels

Position your posts so that grooves face each other. Mark crosspieces in the grooves and protect them with deck screws.

Follow the steps 3 and 4 for right side.

Seats

Start assembling of seat for your bench by cutting the pieces to appropriate lengths. Then, carefully place these pieces between the sides and secure them with nails and joist hangers.

Mark the desired height of the seat on all four posts.

Slide the seats between the posts and inspect that everything is even and square and secure them using the deck screws.

Backrest and lattice

Cut the pieces of length equal distance between back posts.

Screw three backboards between the posts.

Now attach the side latticing to your bench with the same measurement on both sides.

Slide you lattice panels and nail them.

 And finally the Trellis

Start by cutting 2 pieces of appropriate lengths of trellis. In the middle of the back post attach one of the pieces using carriage bolts, nuts and washers. Take the other piece and attach to the front.

Cut seven wood pieces of the same length and attach them across the top.

Polish and sand all wood surfaces; make use of your pump sprayer and apply two coats of clear sealer.

Finally, your arbour bench is ready to sit on.
