Waterfront Mansion

Waterfront Mansion

WATERFRONT MANSION – Most homes, especially their interiors have a very definitive approach, that is it is either traditional, contemporary or minimalist as an example.  Rarely do I get to see homes where the a traditional home is mixed with both a traditional interior design and a modern contemporary interior design but this home has elements of both and at first you might think this simply could not work.

In this article I’m going to show you an incredibly beautiful home where interior design not only takes twists and turns but are even implemented, to great effect, in a single room.  The old saying “Out with the Old and In with the New” is completely turned around with “Let’s Keep the Old and Introduce the New” – it is actually an unusual and refreshing experience.

From the first image you might be lulled into thinking that you are about to witness a very modern and contemporary interior design due to the use of the wonderful large Bi-Folding Doors that makes the whole interior open to the exterior entertainment area and pool.

It’s interesting to note that the main building, at the back, is almost a traditional English style design while the building with the Bi-Folding doors is almost like a Barn Conversion – there is is definitely a lot more going on with both the architecture and design than initially meets the eye and the longer you look at the photographs the more you see how the traditional is being blended with the modern.

Without a doubt the Ariel view of this home really does display all its grandeur.  The gardens are just incredible with pockets of lawns and heavily planted borders.  The whole property is well thought out both internally and externally.

The dining area really does have the touch of traditional.  I love the period sideboard furnishings and the majesty of the room is completed with beautiful cornice work and a wonderful shade of Sage Green to enforce the traditional appeal to this room.

It is the patio and pool area that moves the design from the traditional to the contemporary modern style.  Again, we see the large Bi-Folding doors that allow the two spaces to become one.  The clean design paving slabs and columns that look like sand stone really lift the appears of a modern style home.

Modern and Tradition Mixed Kitchen.

There’s a mixture of styles going on in the kitchen and if you ever thought you could not mix the traditional with the modern, then this kitchen will certainly show you that it is possible and works extremely well.

At the very back wall we can see the use of the Sage Green as in the Dining Room.  This introduces the traditional and this style is enhanced with the traditional kitchen cabinetry.  The floor tiling lifts the design to almost a country cottage feel or a rustic kitchen design.  However move upwards to the kitchen island and you can clearly see this is a modern unit with contemporary fittings.  Upwards again and the owners have installed some very contemporary lighting completing the mixture of traditional and modern styling.

With the Recreation Room the owners have gone back in time and kept with the traditional look, almost turning the room into an English Country Pub.  The bar and snooker table add to the over interior design but what really makes this room is the wood paneling on the walls which makes this room what it is in terms of style.  What is unusual are the modern windows and yet they do fit in and provide the owners with the most spectacular views.  It is from these views that this home takes its title as a Waterfront Mansion.

Once again we can see a mixture of styles in this bedroom.  We start with the country cottage feel that is achieved through the carpeting, rug, period furnishings and the fabrics.  Moving to the modern and we have the most wonderful Bi-Folding Doors with a veranda that is contemporary in its look and feel.

The owners of this beautiful waterfront mansion obviously wanted to put their mark on the home and they have achieved this in an unusual way by mixing interior designs and surprisingly they have pulled this off in spectacular fashion.  The whole feel to this home is of being one with its surroundings with a mixture of interior designs that make you feel like you are in the modern world but segregated in a comfort zone with the more traditional styling elements.

Does it work?  That you can judge for yourself but I think the owners have pulled it off remarkably well and I’m not sure that many of us could say the same.  All in all this waterfront mansion is a stunning and very imposing home.
